New event schedule for CONFINE
In November 2024, at the Circolo Arci Pessina in Chiaravalle, the neighborhood/village on the outskirts of Milan, a new board took over.
The club is right next to my home, and among the new group there was also an old friend, the founder of Spazio Concept, an exhibition space in Via Forcella, who years ago supported the artistic collective I was part of in organizing experimental and niche music events.
So, after years of difficulties due, I must admit, not only to age-related matters but also to a strong decline in my personal enthusiasm, after years of no longer considering investing energy in organizing anything, I decided to get back into the game. And the main reason—purely selfish—was to bring something beautiful to my neighborhood, a suburban dormitory shrouded in fog, and to try to bring close to home all the wonderful people I’ve been lucky enough to meet in the world of music and the performing arts, a world I was deeply involved in during past years.
That’s how CONFINE (that means Border) was born, a series of events I curated in a meticulous way, trying to make it into something precious… and I presented it to the potential audience with this short text:
The border is a liminal space that separates and at the same time unites, a physical place to discover and cross, a hybrid, undefined space of transit, a state of mind, an emotional landscape, an imaginary. The border is also a line to break, a threshold to cross, a bridge to traverse. Confine is a series of events to explore hybrid music, disruptive and cross-pollinated forms of expression, in a borderland between the city and the wilderness on the far southern outskirts of Milan: Chiaravalle.
We therefore proposed five evenings of music and created a cozy and comfortable environment where music was the warm and enveloping protagonist, but with a wonderful co-protagonist: an audience that longed for this kind of experience, just like me.
We paused with the arrival of spring, because as the evenings went by, Confine turned into a very specific physical space: a warm little room in the midst of fog and rain that almost never left us in peace outside. So we start again in the autumn, heading into a new winter of special music—sometimes challenging, never trivial.
