After years of professional motion graphics projects and personal electronic music projects, with the advent of new artificial intelligence tools, I thought maybe I could try combining these ingredients to get back into the game and “return to the decks.”
“Dreams and Nightmares of a Generative AI” is an audio/video performance lasting just over half an hour. It features several electronic music tracks, ranging from downtempo to breakcore, dark ambient to techno, accompanied by a stroboscopic video clip in which I brought together the psychedelia of hundreds of generations of clips produced primarily with the AnimateDiff model, based on the old Stable Diffusion 1.4, and the motion graphics techniques I work with daily.
I presented this work as part of the “Confine” series of events, dedicated to borderline expressive forms, in the village of Chiaravalle, just outside Milan, in the historic setting of the Arci Pessina club. I was subsequently invited to present it again within MUM at SpazioPontano35 in Milan.
